Hello, it’s Kari here today with 2 Tropical Fruit cards using the stencils from the June Hedgehog Hollow Kit. These stencils are just so fun to use…the Pineapple Spotlight Stencil is up first! I have a video showing you just how to make both cards today, watch it below or in HD on YouTube:

Card 1:

For this slimline card, I lined up the pineapple spotlight stencil and the leaf stencil together and inked on some Mowed Lawn and Peeled Paint Distress Ink. Then I removed the leaf stencil and lined up the pineapple body stencil. I used Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, and Rusty Hinge inks to this layer.

I used the pineapple cutout to “MASK” off the pineapple so I could ink on Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink over the entire background. I used the LEAF stencil to add some fun design to the background! Doesn’t this look like a Hawaiian pattern?! I thought it was so fun!

Next, I stamped on the sentiment with Memento brown ink. I added a heart in the same yellows just next to the sentiment (popped up with foam tape). To make it stand out a little more from the pineapple, I edged the heart with a felt tip black pen. Then I added the entire panel to the card base. What a fun and happy card, don’t you think?!

Card 2:

For the second card, I first lined up the layering stencils to make sure they were all going the right direction and that they lined up correctly. Then, I inked all the layers with much of the same colors.

I did want to note that the TIPTREE JAM ink is just perfect for the watermelon, strawberry, cherry layer!

Once all the layers were inked, I added some detail with white and black gel pens: black seeds on the watermelon & strawberries; White highlights on the cherries.

I finished it off with some yellow gems on a few of the pineapple.

This layering stencil is really a lot of fun! And think about different color combinations you could try…maybe a monochromatic background, or some muted colors. This is going to be fun to play with.

I used some of the blue pieces that I cut off the slimline card as detail for the bottom of this card. The sentiment is stamped on a blue banner and popped up on foam tape to finish it off.
