Hello! It’s Kari here today with a fun polka dot background! I used the smallest stamps included in the August 2019 Kit to create backgrounds on three cards.
Small stamps are a fun way to build backgrounds…and so easy! Lots of dots can get a little busy, but when you add large elements and sentiments to balance it out, it turns into a beautiful card.
For this first card, I used a rainbow array of inks to create the dotted background. It’s easy to do, just switch up the direction of the stamp each time you stamp the image.
I created a quick VIDEO with three different ways to make a polka dot background, watch it below or on YouTube:
This black and white polka dot card is probably my favorite. I used a nice black pigment ink (my favorite: Versafine Onyx Black) to get a clear, dark impression. To break up the busy, I added the large floral image and a large black sentiment strip. I white heat embossed TWO of the sentiments in the kit to create this sentiment.
The last card shows off the beautiful embossing powders exclusive to the Hedgehog Hollow July kit! I used three of the embossing powders to create an ombre look for this background:
You might notice that I colored up the flowers in a rainbow of colors…I originally planned on using the rainbow flowers on the rainbow background. But when I create my cards they sometimes take on a mind of their own! So instead, a few of them ended up on this card (and one on the rainbow background). I do like how they turned out, and it’s fun to color up a bunch of florals and just create!
Which background is your favorite? I hope you give this small dotted background a try! If you do, be sure to tag me…I’d love to see your creations!
See you next time with a few more creative ideas,
