Hello, crafty friends! It’s Marie here again from Marie Nicole Designs. I have one more guest post for you featuring the February Subscription box from Hedgehog Hollow. This box was full of lovely floral images, and I went with a vintage feel in today’s cards by using my Copics on kraft cardstock.

Start with Stamping

I began my cards by stamping out the florals onto my kraft cardstock. I used some brown hybrid ink instead of the black ink I would usually grab for when stamping.

The brown gives a softer, more vintage feel that coordinates with the kraft and with the colors of copics used. Also, using a hybrid ink ensures that the ink will not smear or run while coloring with alcohol markers.

Color Your Stamped Images

After I had my card panels stamped, I used my copics in skin tones to color. I added some blush pink to the flowers, doing some shading with a slightly darker pink as well. The leaves are all colored with various tones of brown, the lightest brown applied first, and the darkest brown for shading.

Coloring on kraft will tint your colors, anyway, so I find that using kraft for a vintage vibe works beautifully!

Add Details with a White Gel Pen

After the coloring was complete, I used a white gel pen to fill in some of the smaller areas, as well as add detail to the inside of the flowers. This bit of white against the kraft background just makes the card and colors pop! I then took both my stamped card panels and cut them down using some rectangle dies. This made the card panels slightly smaller than the card base, and I popped them up on foam adhesive after stamping the sentiments in the same brown ink I used to stamp the images.

These cards are super simple; most of the work goes into the coloring, but I love the result.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! I hope you loved the cards and it has provided some creative inspiration for you.

Happy crafting,
Marie Nicole
