Ways to emboss with The HedgeHog Hollow May Subscription Box
Hello everyone. Koren here with the great pleasure of guest designing for the Hedgehog Hollow. I’m so happy to have received the May Subscription box and I’m completely delighted about all of its contents.
For my card today, I embossed my project using two techniques to emboss. I started with a piece of the white cardstock included in this month’s kit, and cut it down to 3 1/2” by 4 3/4”.
I then took the Floral Stencil and Whipped Spackle by Faber Castell. This product is a light white embossing paste that can be colored using many different pigments. I ended up leaving it white for today’s project, as I wanted to create a more subtle tone on tone background. I applied a light coat of spackle filling the card panel. Make sure you lift the stencil straight up when using this technique, as to not smudge your embossing paste. Also, clean your stencil right away. You will have a much harder time getting it off later, it’s so much easier to jus clean it now, it’s worth the interruption in creating.
Once the background was dry, I could add my sentiment strip and word die. The “Beautiful” die cut ephemera was pre-cut and included in this month’s box. It was one of many sentiments, including “fabulous” and “love”. I really like these precut die cuts, it makes it so easy, and they look really nice too. I kept mine brown or natural but you can easily color them using all sorts of different mediums.
For the sub-sentiment, I stamped the “hope you’re having a great day” from the Sophia’s Edges stamp set (included in this month’s box) with Nuvo Clear Mark embossing ink onto a piece of Lawn Fawn’s Black Licorice cardstock. I used Ranger White embossing powder and my Wagner heat tool to heat emboss this sentiment. I cut it into a strip using my Fiskars wire guide paper trimmer.
To adhere the sentiments onto the background, I used Nuvo Deluxe Liquid Adhesive onto the back of the “beautiful” word die cut. I used a fairly generous amount because I wanted to make sure it would stick securely to the embossing on the background. I used Scotch 3M foam tape to pop up the black sentiment strip below it.
This panel was then added to a Simon Says Stamp Fog card base cut to A2 size in a landscape orientation. I used white craft foam and Scotch Double sided tape to secure them together.
I hope you enjoyed todays project and found some inspiration from it.
Until next time.
