Greetings fellow Crafters!
Working with the Hedgehog Hollow monthly subscription box to create a bit of different looking holiday card. I enjoy creating cards with an unexpected look. I am using the sentiment from the ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’ Stamp Set as my focal image along with paper from the box and past shipments. Please follow along and see how it turns out.
I started by stamping the sentiment onto white card stock using eclipse black ink. While the ink was still wet I covered it with black embossing powder. This made the sentiment really stand out. Next I die cut a few white snow flakes.
My next step was to determine the size I wanted to make the card. Because I wanted to use many layers of card stock I felt the size should be 5×7. The card base was cut out of the beautiful red shiny paper included in the box. Now to determine how many layers and what color and order. I felt I wanted to include a layer of the patterned paper from the ‘Dots and Patterns’ 6×6 stack.
The final step is to attach the layers together in a pleasing look. This is where I decided to add the snow flakes or not. I went with adding them. I liked how the patterned paper looked like snow flakes so the addition of white die cuts added to the look. In addition I added a few sequins. The layered sentiment, alias focal image, needed to stand out so I chose to attach it using foam tape. I am pleased with this less tradition holiday card. I would encourage you to try alternate color combinations and designs when creating traditional cards. You may find you like what you see.
Decided to create the same card using green instead of red. I like it but prefer the red. How about you?
